Advancing Intelligent Transport Together

The ITS Asia-Pacific Forum 2027 invites researchers, practitioners, government agencies, transport operators, consultants, technology providers, policymakers, innovators, and industry leaders to share their knowledge, experiences, and innovations in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and future mobility.

The Forum will provide a premier Asia-Pacific platform for the exchange of ideas, research findings, practical deployment experiences, policy initiatives, and emerging technologies that advance safer, smarter, more connected, sustainable, and inclusive transport systems.

Accepted contributions will be presented at the 21st ITS Asia-Pacific Forum, to be held at the New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC), Auckland, New Zealand, from 5-7 May 2027, under the theme 'Advancing Intelligent Transport Together'.

1. Special Interest Sessions

Special Interest Sessions provide an opportunity to bring together experts from industry, government, and academia to discuss emerging ITS issues, policy developments, implementation challenges, research trends, and innovative solutions.

These sessions are intended to encourage interaction and discussion rather than the presentation of individual research papers.

Session Format

Sessions are generally 45-90 minutes and may include:

Moderator or Chair.
Panel discussions.
Expert presentations.
Interactive audience participation.
Structured debate and discussion.

Required Information

Submitters must provide:

Session title.
Session topic area.
Session description (150-300 words).
Session objectives and expected outcomes.
Session organiser details.
Moderator details.
Proposed speakers (typically 3-6).
Speaker affiliations and biographies.
Proposed session format and structure.

Priority will be given to sessions demonstrating diversity of viewpoints, strong regional relevance, and balanced participation from industry, government, and academia.

2. Scientific Papers

Scientific Papers provide a forum for academic and scientific excellence and should present original research that advances knowledge and understanding in Intelligent Transport Systems and related transport disciplines.

Scientific Papers should be based on recent research, innovation, and scholarly achievement, and should demonstrate recognised scientific and academic standards.

Requirements

Full paper submission required in PDF format (.pdf) in A4 size.
Papers must be written in English.
Length: 5-12 pages, including figures, tables, and references.
Papers must follow the official ITS Asia-Pacific Forum template.
Papers will undergo a peer-review process conducted by international experts.
Accepted papers will be included in the Forum Proceedings.
At least one author must register and present at the Forum.
Authors of accepted papers will receive a presentation template following acceptance.

Scientific papers may include:

Original research.
Analytical and modelling studies.
Artificial intelligence and data analytics applications.
Evaluation of ITS deployments.
Human factors and behavioural studies.
Policy and governance research.
Emerging technologies and innovation.
Sustainability and resilience research.
Connected and automated transport systems.

3. Technical Papers

Technical Papers provide a platform for practitioners, transport agencies, consultants, manufacturers, operators, and industry specialists to share practical experiences, innovative solutions, and lessons learnt from real-world ITS deployments.

Technical Papers may address technical, operational, institutional, business, economic, or policy aspects of Intelligent Transport Systems.

Requirements

Full paper submission required in PDF format (.pdf) in A4 size
Papers must be written in English.
Maximum length: 4 pages.
Papers should focus on practical outcomes, implementation experience, evaluation results, case studies, or innovation.
Papers must not be overtly commercial or promotional.
Accepted papers will be included in the Forum Proceedings.
At least one author must register and present at the Forum.
Authors of accepted papers will receive a presentation template following acceptance.

Suitable Contributions

Technical papers may include:

ITS deployment case studies.
Smart infrastructure implementation.
Smart motorway and network management applications.
Public transport technology deployments.
Freight and logistics innovation.
Connected vehicle applications.
Road safety initiatives.
Data platforms and digital twins.
System operations and management.
Procurement, governance, and programme delivery.

Scientific papers that do not fully meet scientific review requirements may be recommended for acceptance as a Technical Paper following reviewer assessment.

4. Printed Posters

Posters provide an opportunity to showcase emerging research, innovative projects, pilot studies, student work, operational initiatives, and early-stage developments. Poster sessions are designed to encourage discussion and networking among delegates.

Requirements

Submitters must provide:

Title.
Abstract (maximum 300 words).
Author information.
Topic area.
Keywords.

Authors of accepted posters will receive a poster preparation guideline following acceptance. You will be asked to provide your poster in a specific file format, and the poster will be printed for you in New Zealand. It will be displayed on poster boards in the exhibition hall throughout the conference.

Important Additional Notes

All submissions must be original work and must not have been previously published.
Papers and session proposals must be submitted electronically through the official Forum submission portal.
All accepted presenters must register for the Forum.
Authors retain copyright of their work unless otherwise advised.
The Forum reserves the right to allocate accepted submissions to the most appropriate presentation format.
All presentations and papers must be delivered in English.
