Traffic signals are often considered the original intelligent transport systems (ITS) technology. In this short presentation, members of the Signals NZ User Group (SNUG), a subgroup of the Engineering NZ Transportation Group, will share recent SNUG activities, including progress on the national traffic signal design guide and installation standards.

The presentation will also provide a snapshot of current traffic signal management in New Zealand and highlight key emerging technology trends relevant to practitioners.
